If Locis problems exist...

1.  Reboot and try again

2.   If you did a code update after November 2010…

            -  The first time you run Locis after the update, you should be a local administrator in order for the necessary dlls to be installed/registered.

3.   As an administrator - do a search of the entire hard drive of 'cosw.ini' and delete all occurrences of the file.

4.  Call locis if problems persist.

How to replace a workstation which runs Locis from a Network Share…

-          Prior to taking the old workstation out of service copy or write down the target of the Locis desktop shortcut.  Usually, it is something like  “f:\locis\comet.exe /pn=mike”

o   The ”/PN = xxxx” area should be different on each workstation that runs Locis.

-          With the new computer in place.

o   Ensure the computer is mapping a drive letter to the original network share.

o   Recreate (or copy) the original desktop shortcut (from old PC) to the desktop of the new PC.

o   Attempt to run Locis by double clicking the icon.

§  If you get past the “Enter Password” screen, you are successful.

§  If you get any kind of a bad message, you must login as a user with administrative rights the first time you run Locis.

o   After running Locis once as an administrator, retry the Locis icon as a typical user and you should be successful.

-          Copy the Locis folder from the old computer to the new computer.

o   Optimally, the computer would have the same IP Address/Computer Name/Share Name

o   The default installation path is the only thing you must change during the install.

§  C:\comet services is not good.

§  X:\locis\secure is where it needs  (x is where Locis is installed).

A new service is created called "CometServices"  you can either reboot or start the service manually.
